Armored Collective provides chauffeured armored SUV rental in Atlanta, operating B4 to B5 Chevrolet Suburbans and Cadillac Escalade ESVs with vetted security drivers across the metropolitan area. Two facts account for most of the work here: Atlanta has the busiest passenger airport in the world, and Georgia is one of the largest film production centers in the United States.

Production movement is a bigger share of the mix than most people expect. The film industry brings in talent and executives who work to fixed call times and cannot absorb a delay, which makes multi-day holds with a dedicated security driver the normal booking shape rather than the exception.

Which Atlanta airport to use

Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) is the busiest airport in the world by passenger numbers. It is enormous, the concourse you arrive at changes the drive time meaningfully, and we ask for it at booking.

Peachtree-DeKalb (PDK) is the main private aviation field, sits northeast of the city and is far closer to Buckhead than Hartsfield-Jackson. For anyone arriving privately it is almost always the better choice. Fulton County (FTY) serves the west side.

Where we operate in Atlanta

Buckhead, Midtown, downtown, Virginia-Highland, Inman Park, West Midtown, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Roswell and Marietta. The production studios east and south of the city are served as part of the same operating area.

What shapes a movement in Atlanta

The Downtown Connector, where the two interstates merge through the center of the city, is unpredictable at almost any hour and is routinely the difference between an on-time arrival and a late one. Any movement crossing it is planned with slack.

Winter ice is the seasonal risk and it is a serious one here. Atlanta gets ice rather than snow, the road network and the driving population are not equipped for it, and the metro area effectively stops. Armoring lengthens braking distances on ice, so movements during an ice event are assessed individually.

Hartsfield-Jackson's size is itself an operating factor. The concourse and the arrivals level materially change the meeting arrangement, and a domestic arrival is a different proposition from an international one.

When Atlanta gets busy

The convention calendar at the Georgia World Congress Center drives the largest spikes. The film production calendar creates steady rather than peaked demand, and the college football season fills the city on specific weekends.

What to ask any Atlanta operator

Georgia licenses for-hire passenger transport and access to Hartsfield-Jackson is separately controlled, with its own permitting for commercial ground transport. Ask any operator to confirm both. Ask separately for the armoring certificate for the assigned unit.

Armored Suburbans and Escalades. Seven seats. Nothing else.

Armored Collective runs one vehicle platform type deliberately. The armored Chevrolet Suburban and the bulletproof Cadillac Escalade ESV are the most common large SUVs on American and Mexican roads, which means an armored one does not announce itself. Both hold their third row with armor fitted, so a principal, a security driver and a protection detail fit without splitting the party across vehicles. For multi-vehicle movements and motorcades we run matched units so the package looks like one fleet, not three rentals.

B4 or B5. How to choose.

Armor level is not a status ladder. Every level up adds weight, slows the vehicle, and wears the brakes and suspension faster. The correct answer is the lowest level that covers the threat you actually face.

Ballistic components in Armored Collective vehicles are rated to EN 1063 for transparent armor and to VPAM APR for opaque armor. EN 1063 is a component standard, not a vehicle standard: it classifies glazing, not finished cars. The only standard that certifies a complete assembled vehicle, including joints, overlaps and glazing interfaces, is VPAM BRV. Ask any provider which standard and which edition was used, which components were tested, and whether the certificate covers the specific unit or the fleet in general. We will send the certificate for the unit assigned to you.

B4 (EN 1063)

.44 Remington Magnum and lower handgun threats. The common civilian choice where carjacking or an opportunistic approach is the primary concern, and equivalent to what the Mexican market calls Nivel III, which accounts for the large majority of armored vehicles in the country.

B5 (EN 1063)

5.56 x 45mm NATO. Intermediate rifle threats. Note that EN 1063 does not include 7.62 x 39mm in its test series. If AK-pattern rifles are in your threat profile, ask for a VPAM VR6 certificate rather than a B5 rating.

We do not operate B6 or B7. B6 is tested against 7.62 x 51mm NATO and carries a real penalty in weight, acceleration and braking. If your risk assessment calls for that level, tell us and we will say so rather than sell you something that does not meet it.
