Armored Collective provides chauffeured armored SUV rental in Houston, operating B4 to B5 Chevrolet Suburbans and Cadillac Escalade ESVs with vetted security drivers across the metropolitan area. Houston moves a specific kind of client: energy executives heading to or returning from Latin America, West Africa and the Middle East, often at the start of a trip where the ground security requirement is far higher at the far end than it is here.
Corporate security departments account for a larger share of the booking mix in Houston than in almost any other US city we cover. The practical effect is that the questions we get asked here are about driver vetting and armoring certificates rather than about vehicle specification, and the paperwork usually precedes the movement by several days.
George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is north of the city and handles most international traffic. William P. Hobby (HOU) is south and closer to downtown, and for anyone staying in the center it is usually the better arrival.
Sugar Land Regional (SGR) and Ellington Field (EFD) serve private aviation. Sugar Land suits the southwest suburbs and the Energy Corridor better than either commercial field.

The drive from George Bush Intercontinental to downtown Houston typically takes about thirty minutes. Hobby to downtown typically takes about twenty minutes and is usually the faster commercial arrival.
Downtown, the Energy Corridor, Uptown and the Galleria, Memorial, River Oaks, West University, the Medical Center, Katy, Sugar Land and The Woodlands. Galveston is arranged with notice.
Houston is flat, low-lying and built across a network of bayous, and it floods. The underpasses on the freeway system fill quickly during heavy rain and a route that was clear an hour ago can be impassable. Every Houston movement during storm season is planned with an alternative that avoids the low sections.
Hurricane season runs June through November and the operational impact starts days before landfall, when fuel supply tightens and evacuation traffic builds.
The city is spread out in a way that surprises people. The Energy Corridor to The Woodlands is a genuine cross-metro journey, not a hop, and it is quoted accordingly.
The energy conference calendar in the first quarter is the main pressure point, along with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in late winter, which fills the city's hotels and puts pressure on ground transport for several weeks.
Texas licenses for-hire passenger transport and Houston applies its own requirements on top. Ask any operator to confirm both. Ask for the armoring certificate covering the specific unit rather than a fleet document, and ask which standard and edition it was tested to.
Armored Collective runs one vehicle platform type deliberately. The armored Chevrolet Suburban and the bulletproof Cadillac Escalade ESV are the most common large SUVs on American and Mexican roads, which means an armored one does not announce itself. Both hold their third row with armor fitted, so a principal, a security driver and a protection detail fit without splitting the party across vehicles. For multi-vehicle movements and motorcades we run matched units so the package looks like one fleet, not three rentals.

Armor level is not a status ladder. Every level up adds weight, slows the vehicle, and wears the brakes and suspension faster. The correct answer is the lowest level that covers the threat you actually face.
Ballistic components in Armored Collective vehicles are rated to EN 1063 for transparent armor and to VPAM APR for opaque armor. EN 1063 is a component standard, not a vehicle standard: it classifies glazing, not finished cars. The only standard that certifies a complete assembled vehicle, including joints, overlaps and glazing interfaces, is VPAM BRV. Ask any provider which standard and which edition was used, which components were tested, and whether the certificate covers the specific unit or the fleet in general. We will send the certificate for the unit assigned to you.
.44 Remington Magnum and lower handgun threats. The common civilian choice where carjacking or an opportunistic approach is the primary concern, and equivalent to what the Mexican market calls Nivel III, which accounts for the large majority of armored vehicles in the country.
5.56 x 45mm NATO. Intermediate rifle threats. Note that EN 1063 does not include 7.62 x 39mm in its test series. If AK-pattern rifles are in your threat profile, ask for a VPAM VR6 certificate rather than a B5 rating.
We do not operate B6 or B7. B6 is tested against 7.62 x 51mm NATO and carries a real penalty in weight, acceleration and braking. If your risk assessment calls for that level, tell us and we will say so rather than sell you something that does not meet it.
